Los inverosímiles héroes de las novelas picarescas españolas se abren paso -por todos los medios a su alcance- a través de un colorido y sórdido submundo poblado por desagradables mendigos, curas corruptos, excéntricos, putas y delincuentes.

Ambos Lazarillo de Tormesand Pablos y el estafador están decididos a alcanzar los atavíos del caballero, pero tienen poco tiempo para los ideales caballerosos de religión, justicia, honor y nobleza.
