La búsqueda de Valiente Gon para encontrar a su padre lo lleva a todo un mundo de locas aventuras.

Los cazadores son una raza especial, dedicada a rastrear tesoros, bestias mágicas e incluso a otras personas. Pero tales actividades requieren una licencia, y menos de uno entre cien mil pueden aprobar el extenuante examen de calificación. Aquellos que aprueban obtienen acceso a áreas restringidas, increíbles almacenes de información y el derecho a llamarse a sí mismos Cazadores.

El cuarto examen continúa mientras los aspirantes a Cazadores intentan ganar puntos robándose las insignias de los demás. Gon, Kurapika y Leorio caen en una trampa para otro aspirante y deben enfrentarse a un pozo lleno de serpientes venenosas. ¡Cuando le muerden a Leorio, Gon desafía a las serpientes para arrebatarle el antídoto y una insignia!

Finalmente, los amigos llegan al final de los exámenes y el "torneo inverso" definitivo: el ganador de cada ronda pasa automáticamente el examen de Hunter, pero los derrotados siguen compitiendo entre sí hasta que el último candidato en pie no aprueba el examen. Matar a un oponente significa un fracaso inmediato: ¿la ira de Killua se interpondrá en el camino de su sueño de convertirse en un cazador?

Hunters are a special breed, dedicated to tracking down treasures, magical beasts, and even other people. But such pursuits require a license, and less than one in a hundred thousand can pass the grueling qualification exam. Those who do pass gain access to restricted areas, amazing stores of information, and the right to call themselves Hunters.

The fourth exam rages on as the Hunter hopefuls try to gain points by stealing each other's badges. Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio fall into a trap set for another applicant and must face a pit full of poisonous snakes. When Leorio is bitten, Gon braves the snakes to snatch the antidote and a badge!

Finally, the friends reach the end of the exams and the ultimate "reverse tournament"--the winner of each round automatically passes the Hunter exam, but the defeated keep competing against each other until the last candidate standing fails the exam. Killing an opponent means immediate failure--will Killua's rage stand in the way of his dream to become a Hunter?
