From the legendary Tank Girl comic series to animations by the virtual band Gorillaz, to forays into contemporary Chinese opera and an exhibition at London's Saatchi Gallery, the artist, composer and Designer Jamie Hewlett is one of the most prolific and scholarly figures in contemporary pop culture.

With influences as diverse as hip hop and zombie movies, Hewlett made its mark in the mid-1990s. 1990 as co-creator of Tank Girl, a comic series that distilled the spirit of an era. With his roommate Damon Albarn he created the revolutionary musical group Gorillaz. The successful virtual pop band made up of cartoon characters is a global phenomenon. Gorillaz have topped charts, toured and toured the world, from San Diego to Syria, and garnered millions of streaming listening and record sales along the way.
